Saltspring Island man’s video shows windstorm’s hard hit

Since the storm, BC Hydro has been working around the clock to get power back up and running

The Gulf Islands have been badly hit by the windstorm that knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people in British Columbia on Thursday.

Since the storm, BC Hydro has been working around the clock to get power back up and running, but on Christmas Eve some areas still remained in the dark.

Scott Nyuli of Saltspring Island took this video of what one of the impassible roads on the island still looked like on Saturday.

Many spot outages still remain in the Cowichan Valley, though most of the larger outages had been fixed by Monday evening, and many of the roads that had been closed due to fallen trees and lines had reopened. But much of Saltspring Island still remains without power.
