Kehar Garry Sangha intends to enter guilty pleas to some, if not all, of the charges against him.
Crown counsel Steve Richards said that in a pre-trial conference on Dec. 16, it became clear that Sangha’s case would be not go to trial as was scheduled for Jan. 6, 2020.
He said it’s now expected by both the Crown and defence that the case will likely end in an agreed-upon resolution, rather than a full trial.

“Mr. Sangha will make an appearance in court at a date and time to be determined to enter guilty pleas, but I don’t expect at this stage that he will plead guilty to all the charges against him,” Richards said.
“After the guilty plea, a statement of circumstances will be read out, submissions will be entered and sentencing will take place some time after that.”
Sangha, 54, who has been in custody since his arrest in April, 2017, is charged with seven counts in relation to an incident in which a woman is alleged to have been held and beaten in a Cowichan Valley home over a three-day period.
Officers responded to a 911 call on April 11, 2017, in the Herd Road area and found a woman handcuffed and in need of medical assistance.
Sangha was taken into custody the next day.
The charges against him include aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and unlawful confinement or imprisonment.
Sangha had chosen a trial by jury before Monday’s pre-trial conference.
He was denied bail in a Victoria courtroom on July 11.
