An old elf is putting aside is busy schedule to spend some time in the White Valley.
Santa Claus will be the special guest at the Lumby Christmas Light Up Sunday.
“We are pleased to welcome Santa to our festive community,” said Stephanie Sexsmith, Lumby and District Chamber of Commerce executive director.
The fun gets underway with the Elves Shelves Holiday Shop at the White Valley Community Centre from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“This is an opportunity throughout the season to shop and stay local,” said Sexsmith.
Activities then shift over to the Arbor Park gazebo at 4 p.m. where wagon rides will start. The rides are sponsored by Area D of the Regional District of North Okanagan.
Participants will also be encouraged to sing Christmas carols while there will be hot dogs and hot chocolate donated by Super A Foods.
And the excitement expands with the Christmas Light Up parade at 4:30 p.m., and then the arrival of Santa Claus.
“People can enjoy an old fashioned visit with Santa,” said Sexsmith.
From 5:45 to 7 p.m., there will be a free public skate at Pat Duke Memorial Arena sponsored by the Village of Lumby.
Sexsmith is urging all residents of Lumby and rural Lumby to take part in the festivities and embrace the holiday spirit.
“We always are excited to be part of this local community event to kick off the holiday season.”
