School closures will continue for Friday due to icy weather

Ice and mush wreak havoc on roadways leading to school closures for the schools in Fraser-Cascade SD78

School closures in Fraser Cascade SD78 (Agassiz-Harrison) are in full effect with the storm that hit across B.C. Wednesday afternoon, bringing high winds, snow and freezing rain that will continue until Friday.

Schools were closed Monday and Tuesday, re-opened on Wednesday, and will be closed for the remainder of the week.

Environment Canada’s storm and snowfall warnings stretched from parts of Vancouver Island to the Interior. The communities of Agassiz and Harrison all the way to Hope saw snow on Wednesday which has turned into freezing rain, which is expected to turn into a heavy downpour as conditions warm up.

Hopefully we’ve seen the last of the heavy snow, as public works, and both communities deal with the residuals of the freakish weather.
