School District 71 will be looking for a new secretary-treasurer.
Comox Valley Schools announced that Nicole Bittante will be leaving the Valley to become the new secretary-treasurer with Okanagan-Skaha School District 67. The district covers an area in the Okanagan Valley, centred in Penticton and Summerland and representing a population of about 60,000 people.
Bittante has been with the School District 71 for two years. Before joining Comox Valley Schools, she was the secretary-treasurer for School District 83, North Okanagan. She had been there since 2015 after working as director of finance for School District 62 in North Saanich.
“We are pleased for Nicole’s opportunity to relocate closer to family and friends but will miss her and the leadership she brought to our district,” said SD 71 superintendent Tom Demeo. “Nicole successfully led us through two key budget reviews and was able to oversee major capital project initiatives such as the Hornby school replacement, and the Lake Trail seismic project.”

Comox Valley Schools made the announcement on July 28 and will now begin the process of finding a new secretary-treasurer to join the district.
