The Poker Tournament for Season 27 of Wells Gray Inn Poker Club was held Sept. 26.
Winners are: first place, Goldie Krawec, second place, Crystal Hansen, and third place Bob Daoust. Best hand of the tournament was a full house with KKKQQ.
Play started out cautious as no one wanted to be the first person out of the game.
Winner of the fun table was Laurie Marsh.
During Season 27, which started early July and ended Sept. 19, a total of 23 different players participated in the weekly Wednesday evening free Texas Hold’em Poker Game held at the Wells Gray Inn Poker Club.
Many are very avid players and did not miss a game during the three month season while other players joined in for an evening or two while visiting in the area.
Anyone is welcome to join any time during the season.
Points standing for Season 27 are: Fred Roach 8350; Goldie Krawec 7450; Terri Searls 7200; Bob Daoust 5200; Millie Rempel 5100; Mike Handford 4500; Shirly Wheelhouse 4400; Mike Fraser 4350; and Crystal Hanson 4250.
Players collect points depending on position gained during each evening; a player may also collect extra points for having the best hand of the evening and also for taking out the “bounty player.”
The bounty player is the winner of the previous week, so conceivably a player can earn an extra 200 points an evening. This happened twice this season.
Our group helps the Clearwater Food Bank by each player either donating a cash sum for a three month period or donating a non-perishable item each week. For the donation we each receive an extra complimentary chip for the game.
Best hands of the season were: (Four of a kind) quad A’s; quad Q’s; quad 8’s; A’s full of K; K’s full of J; K’s full of T; Q’s full of 9; J’s full of A; J’s full of K; J’s full of Q; 8’s full of 5 and 6’s full of Q. No player had a Royal or straight flush during this season.
Season 28 started on October 3rd and ends Dec. 12 with a tournament on Dec. 19th.
