A sentencing hearing for Stu Seib, the former NCO-in-charge of the Clearwater RCMP detachment, has been put off until July 2.
A hearing held on Monday to determine what punishment he will receive heard that Seib began stealing drugs in 2010 while he was at the Clearwater detachment in an effort to deal with depression.
Seib was charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of trust in January of 2012. He was suspended at that time and later resigned from the RCMP.
His lawyer suggested he receive an absolute discharge while the Crown asked for a two-year conditional sentence.
The 54 year-old was with the RCMP for 18 years and in Clearwater for eight. He was promoted from sergeant to staff sergeant when he moved to Merritt.
