A westbound semi, pulling a double drop step deck trailer unit hit a power line 3 kilometres west of Three Valley Gap yesterday evening at around 4:40 p.m.
“The power line was dragged and caused property damage to eastbound motorists as well as knocked over a speed variable sign before the line was eventually sheared off,” said a news release from the Revelstoke RCMP.
Nobody was injured.
The driver of the semi, which is believed to be hauling heavy equipment, possibly a log loader, may not even have realized what transpired and continued on the Trans-Canada Highway towards Sicamous, said the release.
The highway was closed fro approximately 2.5 hours while BC Hydro and EMCON Services attended to the damage.
As of this morning, motorists can expect minor delays, as traffic is alternating to allow repairs to continue.
Revelstoke RCMP are in the process of reviewing dash cameras and highway cameras to locate the offending vehicle.
Andy people who many have witnessed the incident are asked to contact the Revelstoke Detachment at 250-837-5255. Any logging companies who may have been travelling through Three Valley Gap during this time frame are encouraged to check their equipment for damage and to notify the Revelstoke RCMP as soon as possible.
