An Abbotsford man has been sentenced to two years in prison and two years’ probation for breaking into a home in which an 89-year-old woman was sleeping.
Clarke David Doherty, 26, previously pleaded guilty in Abbotsford provincial court to break and enter with intent to commit an offence. He was sentenced Wednesday.
He kicked in the door of an apartment in the 2000 block of Gladwin Road at 1:45 a.m. on March 13, entered the woman’s bedroom and demanded cash before fleeing. She was not physically harmed.
Neighbours provided a description of the get-away car, and the two were arrested not far from the scene.
Charges were stayed in April against Cyril Howe, 28, in relation to the incident.
