Golden Fire Rescue
Golden Fire Rescue was very busy over the past week, with many medical assist calls with BC Ambulance Service.
On Sunday, June 16, Golden Fire Rescue was called around 11:30 p.m. to a motor vehicle accident for a single semi truck roll over. One occupant was trapped inside, and Golden Fire Rescue used tools and the jaws of life to help the driver of the vehicle escape. The driver was then tended to by the BC Ambulance team.
Earlier in the day on Sunday, June 16, rescue crews were called for a classic “cat up a tree.” Typically, Golden Fire Rescue would not respond to a call of this nature, but because they were doing truck driving training, they were able to rescue the cat from high up in a tree using the ladder.
The cat was reportedly stuck in the tree for three days, approximately 50 feet from the ground.
“That was a first for me in all the years on the crew,” stated deputy Chief Mike Pecora.
“Normally we would not go to these types of calls, but we are in the middle of driver training, and exercising the trucks and the members worked out for timing quite well. No animals were hurt in the rescue, but one of our members got a solid claw hug from ‘Fluffy.'”
