The Penticton Fire Department is asking residents to be vigilant as a severe wind warning has been issued for the area.
The warning was issued by the BC Wildfire Service, as per the Penticton Fire Department.
The fire department took to Twitter to notify the public.
“Heads up for boaters, and if you see smoke call 911 for a fast response… so we can get on wildfires as fast as possible before the wind takes it,” reads the Tweet.
There are currently three active wildfires in the South Okanagan, two are classified as under control and one is classified as new.
