Clearwater’s 2018 Shop Local campaign is in full swing and this year participants are being encouraged to check out even more businesses.
Those taking part are given a card that needs to be stamped by nine different participating businesses to be eligible for the draw, which has a grand prize of a gift basket with items from the nearly 30 local merchants in the campaign.
“(Shopping local) benefits everyone in your community,” said Bonnie Ruttan, director of the Clearwater and District Chamber of Commerce, the group taking charge of the campaign this year.
“Where you live, that’s who you want to support—the trickle down effect, it doesn’t matter where you spend your money, it benefits people and creates more jobs; the busier (a business is), the more employees they have to hire.”
Once a card has nine stamps it can be dropped off at Home Hardware, Pioneer Market and Meats, Pharmasave or the Wells Gray Inn before Dec. 16, with the draw taking place on Dec. 18.
Second prize for the draw is $500 Clearwater bucks, that can be spent at the participating businesses.
“We’re going to have (the draw) at the lounge here at Wells Gray Inn and everyone is welcome to attend,” said Ruttan.
“We’re going to have some refreshments and goodies and we’re going to stream it live when we pull the winning cards.”
