Shotgun, stolen mail found at hotel

A loaded, sawed-off shotgun was among the items located by police in a Penticton hotel last week.

Police executed a search warrant on Jan. 20 at a room at the Lakeside Villa Inn and Suites on Skaha Lake Road.

Numerous pieces of stolen mail were located, along with a small amount of methamphetamine. Brass knuckles and bear spray were also located police said. Jonathan Haller, 20, was arrested and is facing multiple charges including three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order, unauthorized possession of a firearm, theft under $5,000 and careless use or storage of a firearm.

Haller appeared in Penticton Provincial Court Jan. 23 where he remained in custody by consent with bail hearing scheduled for Feb. 1.
