Alpine skiing gets underway at Silver Star Mountain Resort Wednesday.

Silver Star opens for alpine skiing

Silver Star Mountain Resort will be open for alpine skiing and boarding starting Wednesday.

Mother Nature is making a lot of skiers happy.

As a result of snow throughout the weekend, Silver Star Mountain Resort will be open for alpine skiing and boarding starting Wednesday.

“Presently, our alpine base is 98 centimetres, and the village base is 41 centimetres,” said Brad Baker, operations director.

“We will add more terrain and lifts as more snow falls.”

The resort will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily and the Comet Express, Summit Chair and Silver Queen lift will be operating.

“We will have 25 runs open, a mix of beginner and intermediate terrain,” said Baker.

Cross-country skiing began a week ago and there are more than 38 kilometres of groomed and track-set nordic trails open.
