Trades students from Similkameen Elementary Secondary School scored some impressive results at a recent competition in Kelowna.

Parmeet Brar and Brody Porter finished with a gold medal for their gravity car entry in Skills Canada Regional Competition that took place in Kelowna on the weekend of March 8-9.

Colton Lagace  and Mikka Kangas came away with a bronze medal in gravity cars.

Jagdeep Sumal had a gold medal finish in the auto tech category, while  Chance Wabnegger took a silver medal in construction.

SESS fielded 13 competitors, helping School District 53 to win gold in every competition.

“The South Okanagan and Similkameen will be well represented provincially,” said Career Education Coordinator and Technology Education Teacher Boyd Turnbull.

The gold medalists will be going to Abbotsford to compete in the provincials on  April 9.

If successful there, they will go to nationals in Toronto.

A first place finish in the nationals will see the road take an international turn, as the next stage in competition are the worlds in Brazil.
