A man was sent to hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Aug. 8 along Aaron Road in Ootischenia.
The fire department said in a social media post that the crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. when the driver lost control of his vehicle while heading down the hill near the Castlegar Golf Course and went over a bank.
Fire crews attended the scene five minutes later and found that the man had climbed out of the vehicle and up near the roadside.
B.C. Ambulance Service staff also quickly responded to the scene and transported the patient to hospital.
Acting fire chief Len Coates said the road was closed for approximately 30 minutes during the incident.
“First, crews worked to get the car out of the bank with the help of a tow truck,” said Coates. “They then had to spend time sweeping oil off of the road so it was safe for traffic.”
Coates said the driver is expected to survive.
RCMP also responded to the crash.
