Kitimat’s theatre group On Cue Players is pleased to present Skin Deep, a play written by Jon Lonoff, presented by director Gareen Ball and stage manager Luci Leite.

Skin Deep is a romantic comedy about Maureen, a loveable, down-to-earth woman who suffered a heartbreak so powerful she has become terrified to trust her heart. Maureen prefers ice cream to dating, any day of the week.

A family wedding is fast approaching fast, and Sheila, Maureen’s self-absorbed, meddling sister, will move heaven and the earth to see that skeptical-hearted Maureen attends not only the wedding, but the rehearsal dinner, with a date on her arm.

Squire, Sheila’s attorney husband, is caught in the middle of a blind date triangle, trying to juggle his wife’s cosmetic crisis, his own mid-life crisis and Maureen’s love life crisis, all at once.

On the advice of his cousin, Joe commits to going on a blind date with Maureen. He fights his way through traffic jams and bad storms to meet Maureen for the first time where things do not go as planned.

Skin Deep takes the audience on a romantic journey filled with delicious pastries, love advice and genuine, heartfelt laughter.

The show runs from Thursday, February 14, to Saturday, February 16 at 8 p.m. at the Mount Elizabeth Theatre, located in Mount Elizabeth High School at the corner of Nechako and Kingfisher. Advance tickets available at Bradley’s Bait and Tackle in the lower mall. Tickets are $20 each with customary discounts applicable.
