BC Wildfire crews are currently working to contain a small fire high up on the mountain south of Hedley.
The fire was first noticed Monday morning. The BC Wildfire interactive map shows that the fire was caused by lightening in the area. The fire is burning west of Stirling Creek and was estimated at 0.01 hectares in size at the time of this posting.
A wild storm ripped through the Similkameen and other parts of Okanagan in the early hours of Monday brining with it high winds of more than 80 kilometers an hour and heavy rains.
Power is out for some FortisBC customers, trees down and homes damaged throughout the Similkameen.
