There is up to 10 CM of snow and more cold in the forecast, and with windy conditions continuing, power outages continued to plague Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
The forecast for Saturday night is windy, a low of -8C, dropping to -13C with the wind chill.
Environment Canada also forecast a 70 per cent chance of snow on Sunday afternoon, a high of -2C that day, and a low of -13C with the wind chill.
There are still numerous power outages in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, impacting thousands of customers, as trees are being blown down on wires.
Power is out North of Dewdney Trunk Road and east of 224th Street, all the way to Silver Valley. Webster’s Corners, Whonnock, Albion and Ruskin are also in the dark. There is little information about when the power will be restored.
There are traffic lights on the Lougheed Highway out, and the four-way stop rule is in effect.
There are also two large outages in Pitt Meadows, that take in the entire western region of the city, but power is on downtown and in the South Bonson areas at the present time.
BC Hydro is reporting that more than 7,000 customers are in the dark in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and surrounding Gulf Islands, due to downed lines and fallen trees.
Powerful wind gusts reached up to 90 kilometres-per-hour in some pockets of the region Friday night. Environment Canada has called for the strong winds and bitterly cold conditions to continue through Saturday, before easing Sunday.
