Snow day for Langley students – public schools closed

All public schools in the Langley School District are closed Monday.

All Langley’s public schools were closed due to snow Monday morning.

School District 35 announced the closure on its website just before 7 a.m.

Schools are closed to all students and staff, and no classes were to be in session Monday. As of 8:30 a.m., some schools were still having snow cleared from parking lots and sidewalks.

Langley Christian School has also announced a closure on its website, as did nearby Credo Christian. Ecole des Voyageurs announced a partial closure, with no buses in service for the French-language school. Fraser Valley Elementary School in Willoughby announced a closure on Twitter.

All Kwantlen Polytechnic campuses, including the one in Langley, were closed, and Trinity Western University was shut down for the day.

Snow fell heavily across Langley Sunday afternoon and into the evening, and more snow is expected on Monday afternoon.

Langley RCMP said residents should avoid the roads until driving conditions improve.

“If people have the option to stay home, they should stay home,” said Cpl. Holly Largy.

Driver should make sure they have proper tires and clean off accumulated snow before hitting the road, Largy said.

A vehicle with obstructed vision due to snow can result in a ticket, Largy warned.
