Snow clearing on Denman Island roads has been delayed this week because a Mainroad North Island Contracting plow truck was stuck in a ditch Wednesday.
Tow trucks were dispatched to retrieve equipment. However, the company said all tow companies have been overwhelmed with service requests and were not able to complete a recovery first thing Thursday morning as planned.
Later in the day, Mainroad dispatched another snow plow unit from its Cumberland inventory on a ferry for the Denman crew to use.
“Denman crews have been continuously clearing roads as quickly and safely as possible with its remaining plow truck, the secondary replacement unit that arrived today (Thursday), as well as utilizing a backup plow on their backhoe,” the company said in a statement. “Blocked roads have delayed crews from completing some snow removal; nevertheless, our crews will continue working around the clock to clear roads as quickly and safely as possible.”
Mainroad thanks Denman Island residents for their patience.
