Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the West Kootenay region.
The warning, issued Wednesday (Jan. 2) morning, says snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.
A Pacific frontal system will stall over southern British Columbia this afternoon. Snow will begin this afternoon and intensify this evening. The snow will continue through Friday morning except that over low lying areas snow may change to rain Thursday night.
A total of 20 to 40 centimetres of snow will fall by the time the snow eases on Friday.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
