The Mica Mountain Riders Association’s 8th Annual Dinner and Auction will be held Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Iron Horse Pub in Lone Butte.
“It is a lot of fun and the atmosphere is always great as many of us do have common interests,” says Tammy Henderson, a director of the Riders Association. She encourages club members and new faces alike to come out and see what the club is about.
New to the auction this year is a three night stay for four people in a cabin at the Glacier House resort in Revelstoke with meals included. The package has a $1200 value.
Other items up for auction include snowmobile gear and safety items; electronics such as TVs and GoPros; fishing and hunting items; gift certificates donated from local businesses; and various gift baskets. Some of the items, like baskets full of baked goods and a homemade fruitcake made by Diane Dion are always crowd favourites, says Henderson.
Alongside the live auction, the event will have prize draws, a silent auction, a 50/50 and other games.
“For the last years our ultimate goal was to raise enough money to purchase a new-to-us groomer and we did that a year and a half ago,” says Henderson. While most of the club’s expenses go towards maintaining and running the groomer to make sure the trail stays in good condition, she says, the club’s next goal is to build a new cabin or upgrade their groomer further.
While the snow was late this year, Henderson says the conditions on the Mica Mountain Trail have been smooth this year thanks to the new groomer. Those looking to go out can purchase a membership to the club or a trail fee at a local shop. For those unfamiliar with the area, Henderson says to get in touch with the club. “There are always lots of people going up daily, so send us a message and we can get you in touch with someone that you can tag along with.”
The auction will be held at the Iron Horse Pub on Jan. 21. Doors will open at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction will start at around 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and are available at Performance All-Terrain, Cariboo Supply & Marine, South Cariboo Motorsports and Exeter Forest & Marine.
