Sooke residents head to the polls today (Sept. 28) in a civic byelection.
Officially 10 candidates are on the ballot, but two have withdrawn – Kenneth Robar and Jeff McArtur – due to personal reasons.

Candidates vying for the lone seat include Herb Haldane, Kevin Pearson, Mick Rhodes, Britt Santowski, Jeff Stewart, Lorraine Pawlivsky, Dana Lajeunesse, and Christina Schlattner.
The byelection is necessary due to the death of former councillor Brenda Parkinson.
The polling station is at Edward Milne Community School and is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
