If you are planning on going anywhere this afternoon, don’t plan on getting there fast.
Traffic is heavy on Sooke Road right now due to a rollover crash and fuel leak on the Malahat this morning. A small fuel truck and a passenger van crashed shortly before 11 a.m. near Finlayson Arm Road.
The Trans Canada Highway is closed in both directions at Goldstream Provincial Park and is estimated to reopen at 10 p.m.
As a result, traffic is using the Pacific Circle Route through Port Renfrew and Sooke as a detour.
“Sooke Road is bumper-to-bumper heading west,” Steve Jasinski wrote on Sooke Social. “Getting messier by the minute.”
Tara Anson-Kenmare added that traffic is mainly backed up from John Muir Elementary school to Chevron in Sooke.
Resident Jimmy Page told the Sooke News Mirror that traffic is also backed up to Glinz Lake Road heading east into Sooke.
Sooke RCMP say they have not received any reports of problems in traffic, aside from an incident in Port Renfrew, but there were no injuries.
