South Cariboo man will face trial in 2017 Williams Lake bank robbery

Christopher Michael Swain faces one count of robbery and wearing a disguise

Christopher Michael Swain will be going to trial for charges stemming from a November 2017 robbery at CIBC on Oliver Street in Williams Lake.

Swain faces one charge of robbery and one charge of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence.

A preliminary inquiry into the incident wrapped up Thursday, Dec. 13 in Williams Lake Provincial Court after being adjourned on Friday, Sept. 26.

Following the robbery, the Tribune interviewed two customers who were in the bank at the time and worked together to take down a suspect in the robbery.

Bill Drebit wrestled the suspected bank robber to the ground and Blaine Grinder put him in a hold while they waited for police. The next court date is set for Jan. 28, 2019 in Williams Lake Supreme Court.
