Tugs Tap House will be the site of the first quarterly meeting of the year for the 100 Men Who Care Penticton Feb. 26, starting at 5 p.m.
Members of the group, which operates under the auspices of the Community Foundation of the Okanagan Similkameen, are asked to commit a one-time fee of $100 and then $100 four times a year that is donated to charities at each meeting.
The organization celebrates its fourth anniversary at the May session.
Each quarter members attend a one-hour session at which time three non-profits pitch their causes and at the end the members vote on which of one will receive 80 per cent of the money raised that night, with the goal to raise a minimum of $10,000.
The other two charities will share the remaining 20 per cent of the proceeds because: “We believe all three are worthy of our support,” reads the group’s home page.

Since their inaugural meeting in June 2016 at The Cannery Brewing Company when they raised $3,700, the group has donated over $94,000 to 42 charities.
Recipients have included everything from search and rescue organizations, community associations, arts councils, the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club, the South Okanagan Women in Need Society, animal welfare agencies and many others throughout the Regional District Okanagan Similkameen from Princeton to Summerland.
As well, there is a similar organization for women called 100 Women Who Care South Okanagan and its first quarterly meeting this year is April 22 at Elma restaurant located at 994 Lakeshore Dr. W. from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
