Mckinney Nordic Ski Club, located east of Oliver, has been victim to a rash of thefts that are plaguing the not-for-profit organization.
“The last three weekends we have had our donation money box broken into. Our non-member log book stolen. And the snowcat was hit last weekend,” said groomer Al Coates.
Coates added that thieves have stolen a battery out of the Snowcat, 15 gallons of gas and a wood box that contained top up oil, antifreeze and brake fluid. In response, the club has had to build a better lock system on their donation box, is looking to purchase a locking gas cap and taking the battery out of the Snowcat when it is parked.
The club said the incidents have been reported to RCMP (file number 2019-256) and if anyone notices any suspicious activity in the parking lot they should note a vehicle description, write down the licence plate number and, if possible, take a photo or video.
