Looking for some Halloween fun?
Here’s a list of Halloween-themed events happening in the region. If you’d like to have your event added online, email editor@pqbnews.com.
Oct. 31
Trick or treat in downtown Qualicum Beach, 3-5 p.m. Kids 12 and under in costumes (must be accompanied by an adult) get free treats. Look for orange and black balloons outside participating businesses. Other free activities include: colouring contest at Lefty’s Fresh Food; edible Halloween crafts at Courtyard Cafe; Halloween photos at Qualicum Pharmasave; creepy crafts and more at the Qualicum Library; haunted house at the Old Qualicum Firehall; and pumpkin trail and fireworks at the Civic Centre.

*On Halloween night in Errington, parents bring their costumed kids to the Community Park at 6:30 p.m., where they run the gauntlet past the spooks hidden along the dark trails and at each spook they’ll get a treat.
At the end of the trail, near the market site, they can get a hot chocolate from the coffee shop, and a hot dog, courtesy of the Errington Volunteer Fire Department, warm themselves by the bonfire, and watch the fireworks display.
*Friends of Foster Park Pumpkin Walk. Free event starts at 7 p.m. in Foster Park in Parksville. Free goodie bags, free hot chocolate, $1 hot dogs (proceeds to cover cost of event) and more than 400 pumpkins carved by local students. Trails are stroller friendly.
*Qualicum Cat Rescue hosting Halloween Beer and Burger Night plus silent auction. Includes meat or veggie burger plus fries or salad plus a beer or glass of wine and dessert, all for $25. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Eaglecrest Golf Club in Qualicum Beach. Tickets available at Qualicum Pet Foods on 1st Avenue (250-754-2729) or Lighthouse Veterinary Hospital in Qualicum Bay (250-757-9911). Featuring a circus-themed indoor trick-or-treat walk, musical cakewalk, “Little Ghouls” family-friendly haunted house, hot dogs/hot drinks concession, and end of night fireworks.
All ages are welcome to this volunteer run community event.
The event runs from 6-8 p.m. at the Arrowsmith Agricultural Grounds at 1014 Ford Rd. (behind the Coombs General Store).
Cost is by donation to fund next year’s event.
Oct. 30
Ballenas Halloween Bash 5-8 p.m. Come dressed up and ready to have a ‘spooktacular’ time. Halloween games, candy walk, haunted house and much more. At Ballenas Secondary.
Oct. 27

Oct. 26-27
2018 Halloween Walk. Friday and Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., 2525 Northwest Bay Rd., Nanoose Bay. More than 150 pumpkins to light your way. Walk takes 20-35 minutes. Advance tickets are $5 per person or $20 for a family of five, sold at The Rusted Rake Farm, NBES, Springford Farm Market, Highway 4 Rentals and Soak Essentials. Tickets are $7 on the nights of the event. For info, email halloweenwalk@shaw.ca. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Oct. 26 and Oct. 31
Cloudhead Games and the Town of Qualicum Beach are hosting the 3rd annual Haunted House at 124 Harlech Rd. Qualicum Beach.
Hours on Oct. 26 are 6-9 p.m., with JUMP SCARE actors (not suitable for younger children).
Hours on Halloween night are 3-6 p.m. for younger children and then 6-9 p.m. with JUMP SCARE actors and not suitable for younger kids.
Donations being accepted for the Mental Health Association (Mid-Island Branch).
Last year more than $1,300 was raised.
Oct. 25
Oceanside Building Learning Together presents ‘Spooktacular’ a family-friendly Halloween event, Storybook Village-style. For families with children 10 and under. Come in costume, 5:30-7 p.m. at Storybook Village, 744 Primrose St. in Qualicum Beach.
Hot dogs, hot apple cider, light-up craft to make and take home and more. By donation.
