P. Scheck Industrial Electric Ltd. Has been in Quesnel for more than 50 years.

The company, which repairs large industrial motors and works on pumps, welders, and generators, is co-owned by John and Mike Scheck.

Their father started the company 52 years ago. He began working in the basement of the building where Active Rent-All used to be. In a few years, he moved from the basement and into the current location.

John Scheck worked for the business pretty much right out of high school, says Mike. Mike, on the other hand, took the long way. He decided to become a welder initially, before eventually changing his mind and coming back to the business, but he says he’s probably been at P. Scheck Industrial Electric for 20 years now.

“Long enough that I don’t remember exactly,” he says.

He says the business has grown a lot in the time since it was first started by his father. They have customers anywhere from 100 Mile House throughout the rest of Northern B.C.

They’ve added on to the building, increased the size of the motors and equipment that they can work on, as well as what they can lift or handle at any given time. Now, they have 14 employees. “We added a machine shop, so when we’re doing our own personal stuff we don’t have to farm it out to someone else,” says Mike.
