Sprott Shaw College’s Abbotsford campus has been closed after officials received word that a student may have acquired the novel coronavirus.
A statement on the college’s website says a positive test has not yet confirmed the student has COVID-19, but that Sprott Shaw is “taking proactive measures for the health and safety of our students and staff.”
Sprott Shaw students were already set to go on spring break on Saturday. Officials say they expect classes to resume on March 23, after the end of spring break.
“We are actively following the guidelines laid out by the Public Health Agency of Canada including disinfecting and sanitizing our campuses regularly,” the college said. “We will continue to monitor the situation and we will take all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff and the community at large.
