Still time to request school transfer in Comox Valley for fall 2021

Option is not available for some local schools because of capacity issues

There is still some time to request a cross-boundary transfer for many schools in School District 71 for the coming school year.

Comox Valley Schools released information on its website earlier this month that the online cross-boundary transfer period for 2021-2022 had opened as of Jan. 4 and will be run through Jan. 29.

However, the board of education had restricted cross-boundary transfers for some schools at the regular meeting in February 2020 because of over-capacity issues, particularly at four schools: Royston Elementary, Cumberland Community School, Huband Park Elementary and Miracle Beach Elementary.

The move was aimed at allowing the schools to ease enrolment pressure. As a result, the four schools are currently closed to all cross-boundary transfers, including siblings, along with G.P. Vanier Secondary and Mark R. Isfeld Secondary.
