Theft of kayak
Overnight on Sept. 20 a kayak was stolen from the side of a residence in Comox. The Comox Valley RCMP received the report the next day, from the 1700-block of Quatsino Place. The kayak is a red Wilderness “Tsunami 145” and is approximately 14.5 feet long. Additionally, all of the equipment used with this kayak was stolen, including a self-inflating life-jacket, skirt, gloves, two-piece spare paddle, hand pump. (2018-13422)
Suspect breaks window
On Sept. 22, a suspect broke the window at a business located in the 200-block of Eighth Street in Courtenay. The suspect had been previously asked to leave the business before returning to break the window. The investigation is continuing as police work to identify the suspect. (2018-13467)
Bicycle stolen in Courtenay
On Sept. 23 a bicycle was stolen from outside the Driftwood Mall in Courtenay. The bicycle is a black and red specialized “Safire.” The bicycle has red handlebars, Fox shocks, and red pedals (see accompanying photo). (2018-13586)
Impaired driver causes crash
On Sept. 23 at approximately 3:35 p.m., a collision occurred on Cliffe Avenue after a truck crossed over the centre line and hit an oncoming vehicle. When police attended, the officer found that the driver of the truck had consumed alcohol before driving. A 90-day immediate roadside prohibition was served, several violation tickets were issued and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Fortunately, no injuries were reported to the police. (2018-13534)
