Thirty-four-year-old Daryl May has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of an identity document and fail to comply with probation following a traffic stop in Courtenay.
Mail from all over the Comox Valley was discovered as the result of a traffic stop on March 29.
At approximately 12:55 p.m., the Comox Valley RCMP Crime Reduction Unit initiated a traffic stop on the 1500-block of McPhee Avenue in Courtenay. The driver was identified and investigators found that he was prohibited from driving.
The driver was arrested and subsequent searches led to the discovery of what is believed to be stolen mail inside the vehicle.

“We are still processing all of the exhibits seized during this investigation. Anyone who believes they were a victim of mail theft in March should be checking their credit card statements, contacting their bank, and ensuring that their personal information has not been used,” said Const. Holly Carlson of the Comox Valley RCMP Crime Reduction Unit.
