Store front Santa image referred to Terrace, B.C. RCMP

Complaint letter from visitor to city originally sent to the mayor

It’s not clear yet whether police or the city will take any action after a visitor to the city complained about an image in a storefront window here.

A Vanderhoof family who was here recently to visit extended family wrote a letter to the mayor and council and to The Terrace Standard about an image of a Santa naked front the waist down being displayed in the window of a store.

“As you can imagine, I found it shockingly intriguing to learn that pornography is allowed in such a lovely place,” wrote Twyla Thompson.

“If a man were to expose himself like the picture on the window, he would be arrested,” said Thompson of the image in the window of Deviant Fibres.

City of Terrace corporate administrator Alisa Thompson confirmed the letter had been received and forwarded to the Terrace RCMP detachment.

“We received it last Thursday (Jan. 28) and forwarded the issue to the RCMP,” she said.

Terrace RCMP have declined to talk about the letter or whether any investigation was started.

“We typically do not confirm or deny investigations unless there is an investigational or public need,” said Terrace RCMP Constable Angela Rabut.

“Specific details about any investigation only become known when that investigation results in charges being laid by Crown Counsel.

“This is done not only to protect the integrity of our investigations but also to protect all citizens that may be subject to a police investigation where no charges are laid.”
