Get out your gumboots West Coast, 2021’s first storm is en route.
Environment Canada issued two weather alerts Monday morning, promising Tofino and Ucluelet strong wind and heavy rain throughout Tuesday.
“Strong winds will develop Tuesday morning and persist through the afternoon as a frontal system approaches Vancouver Island. The winds will ease Tuesday evening,” according to Environment Canada.
Winds up to 100 km/h are expected and Environment Canada is also expecting over 100 mm of rain to soak the region on Tuesday.
“Yet another frontal system will move across Vancouver Island on Tuesday. This system will bring heavy rain and strong winds to West Vancouver Island beginning Tuesday morning. The heaviest rainfall rates are expected through the afternoon and early evening,” Environment Canada’s weather alert states.
