Streetlight replacements may cause traffic delays and detours in Parksville throughout March.

At the Feb. 17 city council meeting, council approved the installation of 3000 Kelvin LED streetlights as part of BC Hydro’s Streetlight Replacement Program. The program will replace all existing high-pressure sodium streetlights with new LED streetlights on wooden poles leased to Parksville.

Contracted by BC Hydro, J E Electric will begin replacing steetlights the week of March 8, with completion by the end of the month. While this work is underway, the public may experience short-term traffic or pedestrian detours or delays. Vehicles, as well as pedestrians, will be directed by traffic-control persons. The city asks any affected residents to be patient and to slow down while travelling through work zones.

Detailed information about the program is provided for our residents on the city’s website. Questions can be directed to the city’s engineering department at 250-951-2484.
