Kitamaat Village has new security measures at the entrance checkpoint to continue to keep their residents and community members safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘SecuriGuard,’ a partner of Haisla Nation Council, will be managing the access checkpoint into the Village and will be enforcing stricter protocols for those trying to enter, Haisla Nation said.
Vehicle passes will begin to be distributed to residents at the checkpoint beginning Monday (Sept. 28) and all those without a pass will be required to fill out a COVID-19 form prior to their arrival at the checkpoint, which is available on the Haisla Nation website.
All persons crossing the checkpoint will have a temperature screening.
The COVID-19 questionnaire required for visitors without passes can be sent to the Health Centre, whose information can be found on the Haisla Nation website. Those entering are requested to have forms into the Health Centre during work hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday) to avoid delays.
Anyone without a pre-filled questionnaire will only be allowed through if contact is made, at the time of crossing, to the person or business they are visiting in the Village. Vehicles without a pass and without a specific person they are seeing will not be allowed into the Village, nor will vehicles without a pass who have passengers or drivers showing COVID-19 symptoms.
