Students needing to take a bus starting in September are urged to contact the Sooke School District.

All riders from kindergarten to Grade 12 need to be registered. It is a provincial government requirement to have a passenger list for each bus. There is no cost to parents.

“It’s all first come, first serve though, so if a bus is full, then we can’t accept more registrations on that particular route. There might be another similar route for that person, but it may not be ideal timewise for them. That’s why we encourage people to sign up as soon as registration opens in the spring,” said Lindsay Vogan, a district spokesperson.

Students registered by June 1 receive their passes before the end of the school year. Letters will be mailed out to late bus registrations.

Last year, 4,000 students used the Sooke School District with 38 buses in service. This coming school year, 41 buses are expected to be put into service.

For more information about registration or bus route, please call 250-474-9845 or email bussing@sd62.bc.ca.
