The East Kootenay Foundation for Health had their second Annual Hole In One Tournament and it was a great success raising $14,000 to go towards a new portable X-Ray Machine for the Golden and District Hospital. The new X-Ray machine has a price tag of approximately $95,000.
More than 100 people took part in this unique tournament hoping for a chance to win $10,000 on 17 out of 18 holes, and a brand new Honda on hole 4. It was a great day of fundraising, golf, excellent food and lots of laughs. There were a few very close calls on the hole in one but we will have to wait another year for a winner.
The East Kootenay Foundation for Health would like to thank all of the sponsors, The Golden Golf Club, all of the donors for the silent auction and all of the participants.
Also, a very special thank you to the Golden Hospice Society for volunteering to be hole spotters for all 18 holes. The Golden Hospice is a very important organization to Golden. The East Kootenay Foundation for Health is also partnering with Friends of the Golden Hospital, www.friendsgdh.blogspot.com, and The Blu Moose Cycling, www.theblumoose.com, to fundraise for the new portable X-ray machine. These groups hope to raise the funds quickly in order to purchase this very important piece of equipment.
