This year’s Summerland Fall Fair will rock with free music and fun.
The Friday Night Tastes and Sounds of Summerland, on Sept. 7 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Main Street, has plenty of musical entertainment.
The music kicks off with the Hillside Outlaws, a small country group from Penticton with a rockin’ country sound full of raw talent and high ambitions.
According to entertainment coordinator, Bobby Bovenzi, “we wanted to ensure that the musical entertainment reflects the flavour of the Fall Fair, that is, country mixed with old time music, mixed with rock and bluegrass.”
The Friday night closing band, Jack and Jill, have been known to bring down the house.
Jack and Jill is made up of a wide array of artistic suspects committed to keeping the tradition of rock and roll alive. They play a variety of song favourites ranging from Janis Joplin and No Doubt to Miranda Lambert and Queen.
And in the spirit of home grown, the band consists of Summerlanders Mandy Cole on vocals, Ty Surowski on bass and Adam Levant on drums. Will Schlackl on lead guitar and Dan Bouchard on guitar hail from Penticton.
In between these two musical acts the audience will have an opportunity to try out some old-time country dancing, with the Summerland String Band complete with a country dance caller.
On Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Summerland Curling Club, the music continues with three local musical acts: Packinghouse Social Club, Timbre Wolves and Wendy Rodocker.
The Timbre Wolves are a classic rock band that play songs from the 1960s to the 1990s including hits from Blondie, Pat Benetar and the Beatles.
