Policre are looking for witnesses that can help them determine why someone would have lit a car on fire in North Surrey.
On Feb. 13 (Family Day), at about 2:45 a.m., Surrey Mounties were called to a car fire in the 13200-block of 98 Avenue.
Police found a 2015 Dodge Charger fully engulfed in flames.
Police have spoken with the registered owner, his family and neighbours, and subsequently canvased the neighbourhood for any surveillance video, and found one with an image of man pouring a liquid, believed to be a fire accelerant, onto the car and setting it ablaze.
The man then fled on foot.
He is described as 5’8” to 5’10”, medium build, wearing a dark hoodie and dark track pants with two white stripes down the legs.
Surrey RCMP is looking for public assistance in identifying this man. If anyone witnessed the vehicle being set on fire, or observed the male described in the area, or know of his identity are asked to call the Surrey R.C.M.P. at 604-599-0502 or to call Crime Stoppers.
