Surrey RCMP say a dump-truck driver in Cloverdale has been given a three-day immediate roadside prohibition following a sobriety check.
On March 13, in the 5900-block of 176A Street, Surrey RCMP’s traffic unit pulled over a dump truck for a sobriety check after “observing some concerning driver behaviour,” according to a release Friday (March 20).
Police say the driver, a 60-year-old Surrey man, was found to be impaired and he was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition. The truck was impounded for three days, Surrey RCMP added.
This comes roughly two weeks after a semi-truck driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition in Fleetwood.

Police added that three weeks ago there was a commercial vehicle enforcement “blitz” where “numerous vehicles deficiencies were identified.”
“Our officers regularly inspect commercial vehicles to ensure that they are road-worthy and that the drivers are complying with the Motor Vehicle Act,” said Sergeant David Chu.
“Impaired drivers are a threat to the safety of every road user and our officers will continue to remove those who choose to put the public at risk on our roads.”
