SURREY — A Surrey man has been charged with three counts of possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking after Transit Police patrolling around Surrey Central SkyTrain Station did a bag check and found a “significant quantity” of heroin, crack cocaine, methamphetamines and cash.

Transit Police spokeswoman Anne Drennan said the officers saw a man and woman getting out of a cab, recognized the man, ran a check on him and found three warrants for uttering threats, breach of probation and breach of recognizance.

Drennan said the officers searched the man’s plastic bag after arresting him. Troy Douglas Smith, 49, was charged and is expected to appear in Surrey provincial court on Friday.
