Surrey Mountie injured as stolen truck flees

A Surrey RCMP officer is nursing minor injuries after his car was rammed by someone fleeing in a stolen vehicle.

At 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, Surrey Mounties were called to a report of a stolen yellow Dodge Ram at a Husky Station near 176 Street and Highway 10.

When officers arrived the vehicle was gone. But after patrolling the area, it was spotted in a cul-de-sac near 180 Street and 56A Avenue.

A Mountie blocked the road with his car, but the driver blasted through the patrol car to escape.

The air bag deployed in the patrol car, causing injury to the officer’s hand.

Police later found the vehicle abandoned near 60 Avenue and 174 Street.

RCMP have identified a suspect, and are currently looking to bring him in for questioning.
