Surrey Now-Leader reporter Tom Zytaruk has won a silver environmental writing award for his 2017 three-part series on illegal dumping in Surrey, entitled Trashed.
“The experience of this reporter makes the difference between a basic community story on trash and an excellent piece of journalism,” the judges commented. “It digs deep in all the right areas, puts the focus on people and offers solutions.”
