The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has opened a community survey for residents in rural Keremeos, Hedley and Olalla to provide feedback for the first Official Community Plan.
The survey is open until April 30, with residents able to complete it online, or print it off to hand in physically.
The community plan is intended to provide guidance and regulation for how the community will develop. With the feedback, Area G residents can help shape the future they want to see.
Copies of the survey, and the online completion is available on the RDOS regional connections website. The website also hosts a question and answer section and an online map.
Physical copies of the survey can be printed off and mailed to the regional district, or dropped off at a community location when complete.
Phase two of the plan is expected to take place over the spring and summer of 2021, with community information boards, vision workbooks, open houses and a second community survey.

Official community plans provide guidance and policies on a broad range of topics including land‐use, transportation, housing, parks and infrastructure. They also designate land for specific purposes, such as residential or industrial.
As part of the process, which is expected to be fully complete by 2022, the regional district has formed a citizen’s committee.
The Citizens’ Committee is composed of Electoral Area G residents from a broad range of geographic areas within Electoral Area G. The Citizens’ Committee will actively participate in the creation of the first OCP for Electoral Area G and provide essential feedback throughout the process.
The regional district will be posting minutes from the Citizens’ Committee meetings on the regional connections website at https://rdosregionalconnections.ca/area-g-ocp.
