Beaten victim able to alert teller that he was abducted and being forced to take out money

Police surround a house on Peardonville Road to arrest a suspect in a hostage-taking incident Thursday night.



A man was forced by two people to a bank this afternoon under a demand to take out money.

At about 3:30 p.m. a 34-year-old man was robbed and knocked unconscious, forced into a vehicle with his girlfriend and then driven to a bank in the 32900 block of South Fraser Way by a man and woman, where the victim was under orders to withdraw cash.

The victim was able to alert the teller to his situation, and the bank called police.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., Abbotsford Police patrol officers, with members from the emergency response team and the major crime unit, raided a home on Peardonville Road west of Parkview, where a 39-year-old man and his girlfriend were located. The man was arrested and others in the home were questioned.
