Suspect in Nanaimo steals mobility scooter

Owner says crime happened when he was talking to a neighbour for five minutes on Fourth Street

A mobility scooter was stolen while the owner turned his back for five minutes.

The theft happened in the 100 block of Fourth Street on July 16 at about 2 p.m., according to a Nanaimo RCMP press release.

“The owner, who has a significant disability, was talking to a nearby neighbour for less than five minutes, and when he returned the scooter was gone,” the press release noted.

The scooter is described as charcoal-coloured with a canopy in front and back and a red flag attached.
