The suspect behind a series of vehicle break-ins in Nanaimo had no problem pointing out which cars he had targeted when police caught him.
Police responded to a report of a man breaking into cars at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on Latimer Road.
Members found the man with a pack sack containing a GPS unit, cell phones, a radar detector, change, sunglasses and other items.
“Just the regular stuff you get from cars,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman. “He was quite open and honest. He went around and pointed out every car he’d broken into.”
The suspect also told police each car he targeted was unlocked.
“Fifty per cent of all vehicles broken into are unlocked,” O’Brien said. “In this case there were six.”
Brent Nogier, 18, was charged with one count of theft from a vehicle. His next appearance in Nanaimo provincial court is July 26.
